At long last we escaped one last time
this year. We headed west to Sedona but not without a stop or two along the
way….Here’s our Fall 2012 contribution to the family blog…..
Debbie and I left about 7:30 in the
morning and drove southwest from McKinney and promptly ran into airport traffic
and a ton of construction in the Fort Worth area. The DFW Metroplex continues
to expand all the while laying more and more concrete creating more and more
water runoff. Tons of construction everywhere it seems.
With the traffic problems behind us,
we are headed for Carlsbad Caverns, in Southern New Mexico. We have always talked about stopping there,
but never had the time until this year.
We checked in to the hotel around 4pm and ran to the National Parks
office in Carlsbad to pick up some literature and get some local info like –
where is the post office #$%^. We found
out that every night in the summer thru October the park hosts a bat flight watch
party….so Debbie and I went out to the park(about 25 miles from the hotel) to
bat view.
There was some concern if I could make
the long walk down to the bat cave area….but no problems… seems like the new
hip is working – yea !! We couldn’t take
pics or videos while the bats were coming out of the cave. We have included a
couple of stills
